Contact this animals foster home at petfinder.pchs@gmail.com or text or leave a message at 573-512-2102. This big snuggle bug has come a long way since being found. He was skinny and loaded in ticks and fleas and is guessed to have been born about May 2018. He now trusts that he will have food 2 times a day, is doing well at being in a crate at night, though no room for him to stay in the house during the day seems to be housebroke, loves to ride in a vehicle, will jump out a 4-ft fence, is doing well on-leash, is working hard at trying to sit without wiggling, and has endless love to give. He needs to be fed separately because he is very food protective. His adoption donation of $120.00 covers her vetting, including neuter, vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, negative heartworm test and heartworm prevention. Contact info for her foster home below. This sweet girl can't wait to have a real home where she can give and get lots of luvins. She is only about 40 lb, gets along well with all the dogs she's met where she is staying, does not show much interest in the one loose cat and had lived with cats around with a previous caretaker, and good with children. Bailey unfortunately tested heartworm positive so she has begun the 4 month treatment regime. She may be able to finish her treatment as a foster to adopt if adopter is willing to follow recommended regime. Contact her foster mom for more info on what that entails. Her adoption donation of $120.00 covers her vetting, including spay, vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, negative heartworm test and heartworm prevention. • Prefers home without cats
Choo Choo Choo Choo is a beautiful miniature bully looking dog, I used to call her my pot-bellied piggy but she has lost a few pounds. She is about 3 years old and only 40 lb. Though in a foster home, she spends the daytime in a pen with one or more of the boys because in the past she has not been good with other females. She lived most of her life since given away as a puppy in an outdoor run and was not socialized to people or other dogs besides her kennel mates. She was very scared and resistant to human touch but never human-aggressive and she remains human fearful. She is good on leash and will go potty on leash, she sleeps in a crate at night, and will not tolerate some amount of human attention with out too much fear. She may never become a carefree doggie and has quite a way to go so her new home needs to accept her as she is today and understand that any growth she makes is a bonus. She is looking for a rescue-minded, experienced, patient owner. She originally tested heartworm positive but has completed the treatment. She has come a long way though not yet to the point of desiring touch, she was initially petrified of being touched and would tremor and hide. Though she does not voluntarily come forward and may hide in the back of her run when approached, she is pretty easy to put on a leash when she is sitting in her crate or a dog house. She will need patience to learn about life with a family and things such as appliance noises, baths, TV sounds, etc. She would be considered a flight risk if she got loose since she probably cannot be caught unless cornered. The only experience she has had in the car has been to and from the vet. She gets along great with male dogs and really needs to have a well-adjusted, confident companion dog for her to feel more relaxed and observe so she can learn much quicker about humans and life as a house pet. Due to minimal exposure to different people and having never been around children it is preferred she go to an adult-only or older children only home. Her new family will need to be patient and willing to give her time to continue learning to trust and then basically everything else about family life. This could be weeks, months, years, and she may never seek out human interaction. We have found some of the dogs come around eventually with quiet reassurance and others just need lots and lots of time. Leash trained: Initially she had to be carried step by step, but now is good on leash / harness with the 2 people she trusts that work with her. In the beginning she would try to chew out of anything and would chew a nylon or non-chain leash with just a few bites, but is doing much, much better. She may try to pull away if startled but generally does not on a normal walk. Definitely recommend a martingale collar at a minimum. She is apprehensive but will accept petting while on a leash. She will need to be kept on a leash most of the time when she gets to her new home until a routine is established. She is not anywhere ready for street walks and is not a candidate for dog parks. House trained: No experience in the house yet; adopter will have to be willing to train via gentle correction. If she has accidents, you have to clean up and move on. She is gentle-natured and scolding will set her back, weeks if not months. Recommend using doggie pants until she has an understanding of acceptable behavior in a house. She sleeps very well in a crate next to her favorite boy. Fence: A fence is usually best for a dog and their family. In her case it is especially important since the whole process will be new and strange to her and it is known that she will go after other female dogs. She may be fine in a secure, quality chainlink or privacy fenced yard for short periods but dig or break out of a standard chainlink kennel. Once she gets in a home and becomes more comfortable she eventually should do fine and not try to dig or climb out. Some of the dogs will not come in the house if they see their person near the door so have to prop open the door and get out of sight to get them to come back inside. She is the way she is due to her living situation. It’s not her fault and is needing someone to look beyond any issues to the companion she can become. She is ready to be adopted to someone who understands her history and that she may always have trust issues, but I feel confident she will acclimate and be a wonderful companion to the right family. Her adoption donation of $120.00 covers her vetting, including vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, negative heartworm test and heartworm prevention. Lili Langtree is a gorgeous, sweet, little girl, only 42 lb, who had only known one individual during her life. She loves to play with other playful dogs but has never really warmed up to a human. I hope that once she gets into an actual home with someone patient and willing to teach her what it is to be part of the family that she will quickly learn to trust how to be a perfect pet. She is a bit more fearful than her sister or brother were, but they are now both in homes and going great. She has never been around children or cats. Her mom is a black lab, and it looks like her dad was probably Boxer. Her adoption donation of $120.00 covers her vetting, including vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, negative heartworm test and heartworm prevention. . Dutch .
 . Dutch . . Dutch . . Dutch .
  • Pointer, Setter
  • Spayed/Neutered
Dutch Gender: Male Age/DOB: 14 mo; Born: Apr 2017 Weight: 45 pounds Color: White and Black Breed: Pointer / Setter Mix Good with Children: Never been around children Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown; cats in the area Medical: He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative tested, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He seems to be very healthy. History / Behavior: Dutch is a beautiful Pointer / Setter mix (pictures don’t do him justice) from a large-scale rescue situation where he lived outside in a covered pen since about 12 weeks old about only human contact was when being fed or talked to. He was initially petrified of being touched and would tremor and hide. He has come a long way in a couple of months with minimal interaction and no longer fears being touched by the couple people the work with him regularly and not too concerned with strangers. But he will need patience to learn about life with a family and things such as appliance noises, baths, TV or radio sounds, etc. He would be considered a flight risk if he got loose since he probably cannot be caught unless cornered. Though he has made much progress, it could take weeks or months for him to fully trust. The key has been to allow these dogs to come around as they feel more comfortable. Activity Level: Seems to be relatively high energy. Leash trained: Initially he had to be carried step by step, but now is good on leash / harness. He is very inquisitive and loves his walks so will pull quite a bit so recommend a good no-pull type harness to discourage the pulling. He may try to pull away if he is startled but generally does not on a normal walk. Definitely recommend a martingale collar at a minimum. House trained: Doggie door trained; adopter will have to be willing to train via gentle correction for him to get on a schedule if no doggie door. If he has accidents in the house, you have to clean up and move on. He is very gentle-natured and scolding will set him back, weeks if not months. Recommend using male wraps until he has an understanding of acceptable behavior in a house since he has had no in-home experience yet. He sleeps well at night in a crate. Fence: A fence is usually best for a dog and their family and a requirement for him since it will take him some time to acclimate to a new situation and he does love to run especially if some woods. Some of the dogs will not come in the house if they see their person near the door so have to prop the door open and get out of sight to get them to come inside. POC Comments: He is ready to be adopted to someone who understands his history and that he may always have trust issues, but I feel confident he will acclimate in a relatively short amount of time and be a blessing to the right family. At this point, I feel the best thing for him is to be in his forever home where he can learn about life as a pet and family member. He’s been in the car a few times and does okay but is not a real fan of riding. It will be very beneficial to have a confident dog in the home. He will learn from them much quicker and gain more confidence and trust by just observing the other dog. He will readily take treats out of my hand and from others. He has not been around children but I feel he would do well with children who understand how to approach and be still around him. He is looking for a family with lots of patience and understanding. He is the way he is due to his living situation. It’s not his fault and is asking someone to look beyond any issues to the dog he can become with love and attention. Dutch is a beautiful, young pointer mix. He will bark out of fear but is not aggressive. He enjoys his foster mom's attention. He has learned to walk on a harness and leash. He has quite a way to go and will require a rescue-minded, experienced, patient owner. His adoption donation of $120.00 covers vetting, including vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, deworming, negative heartworm test and heartworm prevention. Contact this animals foster mom at petfinder.pchs@gmail.com or text or leave a message at 573-512-2102. Applications are available on our main Petfinder page www.petfinder.com/shelters/MO529.html. . Ruger . . Ruger .
  • Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
  • Prefers home without small kids
Ruger has had a very rough past. When he came to us, he had to be hospitalized immediately: He had two gun shot wounds to his head, and one through the chest. He barely pulled through, and due to this we cannot blame him for being cautious with people he does not know. He is about 1-1.5 years old, seems to be a purebred Blue Heeler. He needs a very special family who will work with him through his trust issues with strangers. He will bond with his family, but will get defensive quickly if strangers approach too quickly. For this reason, we are looking for a home without children for him. If you are interested in Ruger, please email us at lovingpawsadoptioncenter@gmail.com. His adoption fee of $120 includes neuter, negative heartworm test, microchip, flea and tick prevention and dewormer. He is currently in a foster home and meet and greets can be scheduled at your convenience!
